Creating Consistency

Jill is a member of the research and development team at Super Speciosa and said that one of the biggest hurdles to clear in the creation of kratom gummies was formulating a “liquid concentrate that can be evenly incorporated into the gummy matrix.” Since the gummies are produced from raw kratom material, the process of turning a powdered plant into a stable liquid was the first step in this innovative process. 

“Extensive trial and error has been done to create a homogeneous liquid kratom form that integrates with the gummy base, ensuring consistent potency,” Jill said. 

Once the team had established a solid formulation for the liquid kratom extract, the next step became consistent quality. The process of creating gummies involves a “multi-layered quality control process” that is backed by lab testing to ensure that alkaloid levels and dosages “align with our specifications and remain constant across the batch.” To achieve that goal, the team focused on designing the liquid kratom concentrate for “optimal solubility” that would make sure customers had confidence in the consistency and dosage of the product, as clearly labeled on the package. 

That consistency also applies to the taste and enjoyment of the gummies. 

Super Speciosa’s gummies are specially formulated to be “as close to pectin-based gummies as possible and achieve vegan-friendly appeal.” Through this commitment to creating a high-quality product that appeals to all customers, the team leveraged all available resources to refine and test the gummies, ensuring the final product is both enjoyable and consistent as a dietary supplement.  

“One experience was dialing in on the hydration levels for our gelling agents–too little water led to brittle, gritty mouthfeel, while excess could result in overly sticky or soft gummies that are not shelf stable,” Jill said. “Through countless small-batch trials and sensory evaluations in our office, we have been improving mouthfeel and flavor.”

Sustaining Quality By Listening to Feedback

That process went hand-in-hand with establishing a sustainable production platform to ensure the timely delivery and availability of kratom gummies. Noah is the Director of Procurement at Super Speciosa and said that customer surveys played a "key" role in making sure the materials and manufacturing methods helped create a consistent, quality product. 

Rather than simply focusing on the inputs and hoping for the best, Noah and the team took the time to listen to customers and make the necessary improvements to the formulation. 

“Flavoring and texture are both super important pieces of the puzzle for our customers. With the help of our customers by filling out the surveys we have sent out, we have been able to get real-time feedback on what is working and what is not,” Noah said. “Quality kratom extract is a key component of the gummies. That ensures that our customers can have the desired effects each time they take one of our gummies.”

As the brand that provided raw materials for the FDA’s dosage study on natural kratom leaf, Super Speciosa has consistent access to the supply chain and the materials it needs to produce high-quality kratom products, including gummies.
