How to read a lab report

FAQS
At Super Speciosa, all of our products go through strict third-party lab testing. Accurate and current lab results are available to customers to ensure consumer safety, to comply with regulations, and to preserve access to safe kratom products. Read more about lab testing here.
When receiving our kratom powder in large quantities, the powder is divided into smaller batches of less than 100 kilograms. These smaller batches are assigned a batch number, which helps with the traceability of the product from the start to finish of the manufacturing process. The batch number is used to provide accurate lab results, as using smaller batches allows us to get 100% coverage of the product.
Batch numbers are directly printed on the bag or label. Turn to the back of the bag and you will see a 7-digit batch number, as well as the mitragynine and 7-OH levels, and a QR code. We make sure every one of our products follows proper labeling procedures to ensure transparency, traceability, and most importantly, the safety of our kratom products.
Every one of our bags, bottles, and jars comes with a QR code. Scan the QR code with your phone’s camera app, and click on the link that pops up. The link will take you to the lab results of the exact batch of the product. You can also use our handy lab report search tool above by entering the batch number that’s labeled on the product.
We use Cora Science, an ISO 17025-accredited lab. We also use Murray-Brown Laboratories, another ISO 17025-accredited lab.
You can verify their accreditation on the PJLA website, a private third-party accreditation body that validates labs to make sure they are compliant with international and national standards.
We test for numerous alkaloids, a full panel of microbial testing, and heavy metals.
Most companies only show the most well-known alkaloids, mitragynine, and 7-hydroxy mitragynine. Kratom has over 30 alkaloids that all play a part in its effect.
We expanded our testing to up to 5 alkaloids to give our customers a more comprehensive reading of what they are consuming and how it may affect them. Paynantheine, Speciogynine, and Speciociliatine are some of the lesser-known alkaloids we test for, yet they are just as significant.
A full panel microbial testing ensures our customers receive safe kratom without contaminants. The raw form of kratom we receive from Indonesia most likely does not go through the same quality control measures as we do. Kratom leaf commonly fails to test for Salmonella, E. coli, coliforms, yeast, and mold. This is why a full panel, comprehensive test is so important to the health and safety of our customers–we want our customers to have the best kratom products on the market.
We use criteria for dietary supplements set forth by the National Sanitation Foundation - a leading organization recognized globally for public health and safety. Batches that do not meet this criterion are rejected, disposed of, and will never be sold.
To sell our products in California and to comply with regulations, we must display this label on our products. Prop 65 requires natural products, like kratom, sold in California to provide warnings about potential exposure to chemicals and heavy metals that can cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm. We must have this label to sell our products in California, or we will be fined.
Small traces of lead can be found in many natural products, even bottled water. This is why we thoroughly test our products to make sure the levels are safe to consume.
With our kratom, it would take someone consuming 100+ grams a day for the lead to be a health concern.
If you look at your lab result, you will see “LOQ” which stands for “Limit of Quantitation”. This is a term used to describe the smallest concentration of a measurement that can be reliably measured by an analytical procedure.
For example, a LOQ of 10 ppb means Sante Laboratories testing can’t recognize anything below 10 ppb for Lead. If it was below that threshold, the result would read <LOQ.
The column directly to the right of LOQ is “Specification”. In the case of lead, the Specification is the maximum amount of lead that we allow in our product. You’ll see under the specification amount it says “NMT (Not More Than) 1000 mg/g”. This means it is safe to consume based on the specifications of our product, as it is below the threshold for the amount of lead this product can have to be deemed safe for consumption.
These thresholds are based on the National Sanitation Foundation's (NSF) guidelines for all consumable dietary supplements.
